Mathias Gogo is a resilient tech entrepreneur, developer, and community builder based in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, who is deeply committed to empowering local talent through technology. Currently pursuing his studies at Rivers State University, Mathias is the Founder and CEO of Asha Creative Technology. His journey as a founder is a testament to the grit required to navigate the African tech landscape, defined by an unwavering drive to solve real-world problems despite infrastructure barriers.
His entrepreneurial path began with the launch of Mexuri, which later evolved into Asha, an ambitious AI-powered tool designed to help small businesses analyze survey data. However, the reality of Nigeria's poor data infrastructure posed significant hurdles, ultimately leading to the product's failure. Instead of backing down, Mathias used the setback as a learning experience. He rebranded the company and pivoted to create Asha for Creatives—a dedicated platform that empowers African creatives to securely share and protect their intellectual property when dealing with clients.
Beyond his immediate business ventures, Mathias is an active catalyst for systemic change in the regional tech ecosystem. He is a founding member of the Rivers State Creative and Innovative Start Up Ecosystem (RCISE). Through this community, he collaborates with fellow innovators to directly lobby the government to enact the Rivers State Startup Bill, aiming to build a truly enabling policy environment that provides funding, infrastructure, and legal support for local startups.
